This Saturday, coinciding with Prince George’s first birthday week,
Buckingham Palace opens the “Royal Childhood” exhibit featuring Prince
George’s Christening gifts including an alpaca blanket from President
and Mrs. Obama and a miniature Barclays
bike from London mayor, Boris Johnson. The exhibit is part of the
Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace, the yearly tradition that commences
with the Queen leaving for Balmoral in Scotland and lasts for eight
weeks only. During the Queen’s summer holiday, visitors are invited
inside Buckingham Palace to tour the State Rooms and view a special
changing exhibit. In 2011, visitors lined up to view Kate Middleton’s
wedding dress and in 2012, they clamoured to view the Queen’s personal
diamond collection and last year, visitors saw the Queen’s Coronation
